Rifle Makes Strong #STATEment in First Action of 2015

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - After almost a two month break from competition, the 16th-ranked NC State rifle team showed no signs of rust in its first action of 2015 as the squad made an impressive #STATEment with a pair of wins over the weekend.
The Wolfpack took down No. 9 Memphis on Saturday with a program record score of 4633. Memphis earned a total of 4611 to give the Pack its first Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) win of the season. State defeated No. 17 Ole Miss on Sunday by posting an aggregate total of 4606, while the Rebels compiled a score of 4602 to earn its second GARC win of the weekend.
Worth Noting
- NC State's team score of 4633 against Memphis is one point better than the previous school record of 4632, set earlier this season at the third South Eastern Air Rifle Conference (SEARC) match in November.
- The Pack's team smallbore total of 2302 is also good for a program mark, besting the previous record of 2299 by three points.
- Freshman Caitlyn Ford had an excellent competition, posting personal records in air rifle, smallbore and aggregate total.
- Saturday's win was the first Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) win of the 2014-15 season for the Wolfpack.
- On Sunday, State tallied an overall team score of 4606 after firing a 2332 in air rifle and a 2274 in smallbore.
- Sophomore Lucas Kozeniesky charted the best score of the day in smallbore with a 582 clip and finished third in air rifle with a 585 tally.
- The Wolfpack earned its second GARC win by defeating Ole Miss.
