NC State men's soccer boasted two of the top 22 picks of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday in Philadelphia, with Clement Simonin going ninth overall to Toronto FC and Conor Donovan opening the second round being taken by Orlando City SC.
"We're pleased for both Clement and Conor," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "Both are quality players with great mentalities and even more exceptional work rates. I'm happy for them, happy for our program, and look forward to watching their continued success."
Simonin's selection in the top 10 picks is the loftiest ever for a Wolfpack soccer player, and marked the second consecutive year the Pack had at least one player selected in the MLS SuperDraft.
Donovan made news earlier in the week by signing a Generation adidas contract, and made his place in the professional ranks official when Orlando City SC read his name with the 22nd overall pick.
"As a program, we strive to be a place where players can develop, hone their craft, and achieve every player's dream by reaching the pro level," said Findley. "We look forward to affording those same opportunities to our current program, and into the future."
Under the current MLS SuperDraft format, NC State has never before enjoyed two players selected in the same year.
