SO CLOSE
NC State doubled its shot total in the second half of the Sept. 25 match against Duke. Trailing 1-0 in the 88th minute, Kayla Saager pinged one shot off the crossbar and four seconds later, Caroline Gentry’s rebound attempt was met with a diving goalkeeper save.
STELLJES RETURNS
Starting goalkeeper Mackenzie Stelljes is set to return for Sunday’s match against UNC-CH. The redshirt sophomore was required to sit out Thursday’s match against Duke following a red card earned Sept. 21 at Wake Forest. Backup goalkeeper Karly Gustafson performed admirably in her stead, stopping six shots and allowing just one goal.
DON’T STOP SHOOTING
In addition to leading the team in total shots this season (27), freshman Kayla Saager is the only Wolfpacker to record at least one shot in every single match. Saager averages 2.70 shots per match and struck a season high of seven at UNC Greensboro on Sept. 14.
