RALEIGH – The NC State women’s soccer team returns to action on Thursday night by hosting Duke in the first of two straight home rivalry matches. Kickoff between the Wolfpack and Blue Devils is set for 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Field.

A WIN ON THURSDAY WOULD...

SERIES HISTORY
-Thursday’s match marks the 31st all-time meeting between NC State and Duke.
-Duke holds a 19-10-1 advantage in the series.
-NC State lost a close 1-0 decision at Duke on Oct. 24 of the 2013 season.
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS
-Duke enters Thursday’s match the owner of a 5-4-0 record which includes a 1-0-0 mark in ACC play.
-The Blue Devils won their ACC opener on Sept. 19, defeating Pittsburgh on the road by a final count of 3-0.
-Duke has outscored its opponents 16-10 this season and has taken 181 shots compared to just 91 by its opponents.
-Four Blue Devils have scored at least three goals this season, with Toni Payne (4) and Kelly Cobb (4) leading the way.

Eight of NC State’s 11 goals (72.7 percent) this season have come in the second half. The Wolfpack has also recorded 63 of its 114 shots (55.2 percent) in the final 45 minutes of regulation.
GOING DEEP ON THE DEPTH CHART
A total of 21 Wolfpackers have seen time this season for second year head coach Tim Santoro. Each and every student athlete to take the field in 2014 has played in at least two matches.
IMMEDIATE EFFECT
Freshman forward Kayla Saager is leading the Wolfpack with four goals this season and is part of an NC State freshman class which has had a huge impact on the team so far in 2014.
