MOMENTS OF THE MATCH
- The Pack offense controlled possession throughout the first half, opening by outshooting the Cougars 11-1, and 6-1 on target. In the 26th minute, Roland Minogue slashed into the box and delivered a strike to the left post. Miraculously, the keeper managed to get a hand on the shot, but not enough to corral it. Nick Surkamp sprinted upfield to tap home the rebound for his third goal of the year, delivering a 1-0 lead State would not surrender.
- In the 89th minute, Zach Knudson delivered the knockout blow. Matt Ingram started the play from Wolfpack territory, chipping a ball over the pushed forward Cougar offense. Surkamp dished forward to Knudson, who trampled through defenders and the Charleston keeper to fire on an empty net, sealing the Pack's 2-0 win.
FINDLEY'S TAKE
"Great performance, this had all the makings of a trap game," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "College of Charleston is a tough result. Going into the match we were shorthanded with three guys injured and two suspended. Seeing us perform well, get a shutout, and score two goals under those circumstances tonight is tremendous."
