
NC State Concludes Play at Duke Fab Four Invite

CARY, N.C. – The tandem of Ian Dempster and Beck Bond captured the black draw doubles final Sunday, as the NC State men’s tennis team concluded play at the Duke Fab Four Invitational at Cary Tennis Park.
Throughout the weekend, the four players that competed for the Wolfpack posted a total of 13 victories.
Doubles Notables
- The duo of Dempster and Bond captured the doubles title in the black draw, as the pair defeated the tandem of Addison Appleby and Christian Cargill of William & Mary, 8-4.
- In the consolation finals of the blue draw, the team of Simon Norenius and Austin Powell dropped a hard-fought decision to VCU’s Toni Battle and Joseph Cohen, 8-5
Singles Notables
- In the final of the black draw, Powell fought hard, but ultimately fell to Albert Wagner of Louisville, 6-3, 7-6 (9).
- In the final of the blue draw, Bond was defeated by 110th-ranked Sebastien Stiefelmeyer, 6-4, 6-3, while Norenius fell in the third-place match to Chris Simich of Louisville, 6-2, 6-1.
- Dempster captured a victory in the third-place match of the white draw by edging Michal Voschek of VCU, 7-6 (6), 7-5.

The Wolfpack will return to the courts Sept. 19-21 at the Illini Invite, which will be held in Chicago, Ill.
