FIRST OF HER CAREER
Junior defender Dayna Tomayko scored the first goal of her career at William & Mary on Sept. 7. The native of Stafford, Va., unleashed a strong shot from 25 yards away which beat the goalkeeper to the top corner in the 37th minute.
ASSISTANCE PROVIDED
NC State has provided 10 assists on eight goals scored (1.25 per goal) this season. At 1.67 assists per match played, the Wolfpack ranks 80th among the NCAA’s 332 teams.
DUAL THREAT
It’s not very often that a starting goalkeeper is tied for the team lead in assists. Yet that’s right where Mackenzie Stelljes finds herself, tied for the team lead with two assists along with Alexa Allen and Caroline Gentry.
IMMEDIATE EFFECT
Freshman forward Kayla Saager is leading the Wolfpack with three goals this season. She is part of a freshman class which has had a huge impact on the team so far in 2014. Through six matches, 12 of the team’s 26 points have come directly from first-year Wolfpackers.
CONDITIONING IS KEY
In the final 15 minutes of matches this season (minutes 76-90), NC State has outscored its opponents by a 4-2 margin.
