The Wolfpack trio is led by Brittany Marchand, a three-time All-ACC player who concluded her collegiate career this past May. Marchand shot a 71 (+1) in the first round, tying for 13th overall. She fired three birdies on the day, including the third and fourth holes of the day.
Augusta James, who will be a senior in 2014-15, carded a 72 (+2). She is tied for 23rd. Vivian Tsui, another rising senior for NC State, shot a 73 (+3).
Seven players finished under par on the first day, led by Australia native Su-Hyun Oh (-4), a highly-ranked player James defeated by six shots at the Canadian Women's Amateur in July.
The US Women's Amateur runs with both stroke play and match play through Sunday, Aug. 10.
