Ana Menendez, who just finished her senior season for NC State women's golf, recently won the Women's Eastern Amateur Championship.
Menendez (77-72-69-218) stormed to the top of the tournament after a first-round tally of 77. She shot 72 and 69 to force a tie with Monifa Sealy, who plays for Central Florida. Menendez then claimed the championship on a playoff hole.
Lindsay McGetrick (76-73-72-221), who will be a senior this fall, placed seventh in the tournament, just three shots off the lead. Wolfpack sophomore Stephanie Pribonic also competed, placing 18th in the 80-player field.
Marchand, James Tie For 4th At Porter Cup
NC State's All-ACC players Brittany Marchand and Augusta James tied for fourth at the Porter Cup in New York. Marchand (69-68-74-211) was in second place after 36 holes. James, who placed 13th at the NCAA Championship in May, was consistent with back-to-back rounds of 70 and a final-day score of 71. Marchand and James were two of just five players in the 65-player field to shoot under par.
The tournament was won by Brooke Henderson, who shot a 62 on the final day.
