RALEIGH – NC State freshman forward Jackie Stengel capped off her sensational debut campaign with one of the athletic department’s highest honors at the annual “Wolfies” awards banquet in April, earning NC State’s Female Rookie of the Year award.
Stengel was also named the 2013 Most Valuable Player for the women’s soccer program.
One of only three freshmen to be named All-ACC in the country’s most dominant conference, Stengel had an incredible freshman season for the Wolfpack, leading the team in goals (9), points (19), shots (45), and shots on goal (23). For her efforts, Stengel earned recognition on the All-ACC third team and the All-ACC freshman team. She was also selected for the U20 United States National Team in preparation for the 2014 U20 CONCACAF Championship.
NC State opens the 2014 season with a home exhibition against Appalachian State on Aug. 13. The Wolfpack will then host UNC-Wilmington on Aug. 22 for its first official match of the season.
