Chavis Wins Discus at Liberty Twilight Qualifier

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Nicole Chavis finished in first place in the women's discus at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier on Thursday with a season-best throw of 159'07".
The redshirt sophomore from Lumberton, N.C., who registered the second best discus throw of her career on Thursday, bested the field in the one day event which was moved from Wednesday to today due to adverse weather conditions.
Two other members of the Wolfpack track and field team also made the trip to Lynchburg, as Jule Rich finished in fourth place in the men's discus with a heave of 150'06", while Alyssa Dunn placed sixth in the women's discus with a season-best and personal-best result of 142'08".
The NC State track and field team will compete next in the Payton Jordan Invitaional in Palo Alto, Calif. The one day event is scheduled for Sunday, May 4th.
