RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State track and field team will participate in the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States this weekend, as the Wolfpack will compete in the 120th Penn Relays, hosted annually since April 21, 1895 by the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The event will be streamed live by flotrack.org on each of the three days and will be nationally televised by NBC Sports on Saturday from 12:30-3 p.m.
The Wolfpack is coming off strong showing in last weekend’s ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Over the course of the three-day meet, the Wolfpack combined for nine All-ACC performances and two ACC individual champions. The women’s team finished the weekend with five all-conference performances, as the men’s team picked up four.
On the first day of the event, Jonathan Addison claimed the gold medal in the men's long jump, while Andrew Colley and Alexis Perry each took home the silver in the men's 10,000 meter run and women's long jump.
On day two, redshirt junior Tremanisha Taylor took home top honors in the women's shot put.
On the third and final day, Alexis Perry and Graham Crawford each won a silver medal in the women's 100m hurdles and the men's 1,500m run, while Paisley Simmons, SeQuoia Watkins and Nathaniel Williams took home bronze in the women's 100m dash, the women's discus and the men's discus.
As a whole, the Wolfpack has eight student-athletes who rank in the top 20 in the nation in 11 different events. State has set three school records so far throughout the 2014 outdoor season as Taylor and Perry each set new Wolfpack standards in the discus (Taylor), shot put (Taylor) and long jump (Perry).
