RALEIGH, N.C. – Sophomore Brittni Watkins of the NC State gymnastics team earned regular season All-America honors from the National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC/W). Watkins received second-team All-America accolades in the all-around competition.
Watkins, the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Year, becomes the second NC State gymnast to receive All-America honors, as Taylor Seaman previously received the accolade in 2010.
A native of Albany, N.Y., Watkins finished the 2014 campaign with an RQS of 39.380 in the all-around which ranked 16th in the nation. She also led the EAGL conference in RQS. The sophomore finished with a score of 39.000 or better in the all-around in nine of 13 meets this season and posted a career-best score of 39.425 against Missouri.
This marks the second year the NACGC/W has announced All-America teams for the regular season. The All-America teams are determined by RQS ranking.
