
Former Standout Powell Signs With Houston Rockets

HOUSTON, Texas - Former Wolfpack standout Josh Powell has signed with the Houston Rockets. Powell played with NC State from 2001-03, helping the team to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
Powell, who averaged 12.4 points and 5.3 rebounds for the Wolfpack during the 2002-03 season, will be appearing with his seventh NBA team. He previously played for the Hawks, Mavericks, Pacers, Warriors, Clippers and Lakers. A two-time NBA Champion, Powell was a member of the Lakers when the team won NBA titles in 2009 and 2010.
Powell joins the Rockets after a brief period playing in the Phillipines. He has played professional basketball all over the world and helped the Greek team Olympiacos to a Euroleague championship during the 2012-13 season.
The 6-9 Powell played in 65 contests for NC State, averaging 23.1 minutes per game and posting career averages of 9.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game with a .553 field goal percentage.
