Watkins Named EAGL Gymnast of the Week

RALEIGH, N.C. – Sophomore Brittni Watkins of the NC State gymnastics team has been named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnast of the Week, as announced by the conference.

Watkins was named Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season, as she previously garnered the award on Jan. 15 and Jan. 22.

This past weekend against Missouri, Watkins captured the all-around title for the third time this season with a career-best score of 39.425. The sophomore also tied her career-best score on the floor exercise with a routine that scored a 9.900, while also finishing first on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.850. Watkins also finished on the podium on vault with a score of 9.875 to claim second, as well as a second-place finish on beam with a score of 9.800.

The Wolfpack will return to action when it travels to Denver, Colo., to compete against the University of Denver at 8 p.m. ET. on Saturday, Feb. 8
