Through its partnership with Coca Cola and the United States Marine Corps, NC State athletics provided a happy holiday to thousands of needy children in North Carolina.
At NC State's men's basketball game vs. Wake Forest, the Toys For Tots drive yielded $8,432 of donations and more than 1,000 toys for children in the Triangle and surrounding communities.
The highlight of the event came with the Wolfpack holding a halftime lead over Wake Forest. Head football coach Dave Doeren and football players Nik Sade, Bryan Underwood, Jack Tocho, Juston Burris, Josh Sessoms and Hakim Jones came onto the PNC Arena floor with Santa Claus and the Marines to suprise children by delivering new bicycles to them.
As a token of appreciation, fans making a toy or cash donation received a coupon from NC State athletics for free admission to a future Wolfpack women's basketball game or gymnastics meet. The first 1,000 fans who contributed also received a free Coca-Cola Wolfpack tree ornament.
