Pack Closes 2014 Calendar at Villanova Tuesday

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The NC State women’s basketball team (9-3) returns to action following an extended Christmas break by playing at Villanova Tuesday evening. Tuesday’s contest between the Wolfpack and Wildcats will tip off at 7 p.m. and will serve as NC State’s final non-league contest of the regular season.

LAST GAME
Led by a Len’Nique Brown-Hoskin double-double (25 points and 10 rebounds), NC State handily defeated Davidson by a final score of 82-66 on Dec. 19.

As of games played Dec. 27, NC State boasts the highest free throw shooting percentage in the entire NCAA. NC State has hit 211 of 267 (.790) free throws this season.
SPENCER’S SCORING
Sophomore guard Miah Spencer is approaching a scoring milestone in her second season at NC State. The Georgia native has scored in double figures 22 times in her 45 career appearances and is sitting at 430 career points. Spencer has upped her scoring average from 8.3 points per game last season to 13.1 points per outing this year. Upon reaching 500 career points, Spencer will be the third active Wolfpacker on the roster to have achieved this mark (Barrett and Brown-Hoskin).
DOUBLED UP BY NUMBER TWO
Len’Nique Brown-Hoskin is tied for the team lead in career double-doubles (2) on the Wolfpack’s active roster. Her 25 point and 10 rebound performance in the win over Davidson paced the Pack to a comfortable victory.
BALL HAWK
Despite being the shortest player on the team at 5-5, Brown-Hoskin is averaging the second most rebounds on the team at 4.8 per contest. She has led or tied for the team lead in rebounds three times this season.
TAKE CARE OF THE BALL
NC State committed a season-low 10 turnovers in the win over Liberty on Dec. 17. The Wolfpack has turned the ball over 181 times this season compared to 234 by its opponents.
SERIES HISTORY
-Tuesday’s game will mark the sixth all-time meeting between NC State and Villanova.
-NC State holds a 5-0 lead in the series.
-The Wolfpack is 2-0 in two prior games at Villanova.
-The teams last met on March 18, 2001, with NC State earning a 68-64 win in Raleigh in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
