Nguyen Named Director of Sports Nutrition

RALEIGH, N.C.- NC State athletics has hired Diana Nguyen as the department’s Director of Sports Nutrition. In that role, Nguyen will work with all of the Wolfpack's student-athletes to provide each team and its members an opportunity through nutrition to achieve their performance goals.
While her primary focus will be football, she will also preside over all aspects of the Wolfpack sports nutrition program, from the management of meal plans to the supervision of the training tables at Case Academic Center and Murphy Center, to education and medical nutrition counseling of NC State student-athletes.
“Diana is a seasoned sports nutritionist who brings strong leadership, and innovative practices that will enhance our sports nutrition department,” said Senior Associate Athletic Director Sherard Clinkscales. “I'm excited to have her collaborate with our sports medicine, strength and conditioning and sports psychology departments to insure the physical and mental well being of our student athletes are met.”
Nguyen comes to NC State from Texas A&M University, where she served as an Assistant Director for Performance Nutrition. She assisted in all aspects of nutritional services for student-athletes at Texas A&M, overseeing the nutrition for the women’s soccer, volleyball, softball, equestrian, track and field, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and men’s and women’s tennis teams.
Prior to her tenure at Texas A&M she was a sports nutrition graduate assistant with the Virginia Tech athletic department, counseling student-athletes as well as conducting various projects in the nutrition field. She has also served as a nutrition consultant with The Weight Club of Blacksburg, a registered dietician with the Christiansburg Recreational Center and as an intern with the University of Virginia Health System.
Nguyen earned a B.S. degree in human nutrition, foods and exercise with a minor in psychology, as well as master’s degrees in health promotion and sports nutrition from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
