Pack Volleyball Hosts Wake Forest in Midweek Tilt

RALEIGH, N.C. – After a four-match road swing, the NC State women’s volleyball team will return to the friendly confines of Reynolds Coliseum on Wednesday when the squad hosts the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
The Wolfpack enters the contest with a 15-13 overall record and a 4-12 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play, while the Demon Deacons are 16-14 and 6-10 in league action.
Last Time Out
In its last outing of the season, NC State earned its first road sweep of the season at Notre Dame, 3-0. The Wolfpack registered and attacking percentage of .375, which is the second best for the squad in a conference match this season.
Wake Forest also collected a 3-0 sweep in its most recent action of the season at Clemson, as the Deacs’ played the second match of a four-match road trip.
Last Meeting
Wednesday’s contest will be the second meeting between the two teams this season, as Wake Forest earned a 3-2 comeback win at home in the first matchup. NC State won the first two sets and had match point in the third set, but Wake rallied to win the frame and later won the match.
Third Time’s A Charm
For the third time this season, starting middle blocker Kaitlyn Kearney garnered the ACC’s Freshman of the Week honor, announced on Monday. The Frisco, Texas, native finished the weekend with 21 kills on 34 swings with only one error to record an attacking percentage of .559.
She recorded a career-best .625 hitting percentage to go along with 11 kills in last Friday’s match at Pittsburgh.
Leading The Pack

Kearney has been the Wolfpack's top offensive weapon this season, leading the squad with 2.79 kills per set. Dariyan Hopper, a senior outside hitter from Shorewood, Ill., is second on the team with 2.51 kills per set.
At the setter position, sophomore Maggie Speaks has dished 9.55 assists per set, which is the sixth best in the ACC.
Defensively, senior Alston Kearns paces the group with 2.86 digs per set, while sophomore Rachel Eppley is second with 2.78 dps.
Lucky Number Two

In 28 matches this season, the Wolfpack has won the second set 19 times. The squad has posted a 14-5 record when winning the second set of a match. State has scored 649 points in the second frame, which is the highest of any set for the team.
Scouting Wake Forest

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have compiled a 16-14 record on the season, including a 6-10 mark in ACC action. In road matches this season, Wake has compiled a 1-8 record.
Wake had a seven-match losing streak earlier in the conference slate, but has been playing well lately, as the Demon Deacons have won three of their last five matches.
Senior outside hitter Jazmen Russell leads the offensive attack with 492 kills on the season or 4.43 kills per set. Classmate Danae Rosendall and sophomore Sophia Dodd have split time at the setter position with the prior handing out 7.43 assists per set and the former, 7.12 aps. Defensively, freshman libero Caroline Wolf paces the Demon Deacons with 4.27 digs per set.
