GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the third time this season, Kaitlyn Kearney of the NC State women’s volleyball team has earned the ACC’s Freshman of the Week honor, as announced Monday by the conference office.
The starting middle blocker finished the weekend with 21 kills on 34 attacks with only two errors to record an attacking percentage of .559. Kearney swatted 11 kills on Friday at Pittsburgh and registered a career-best .625 attacking percentage, which is the highest for a Wolfpack player this season with at least 10 kills.
On Sunday, the Frisco, Texas, native was again effective in the middle putting down 10 kills on 18 swings with one error. She tallied a hitting percentage of .500 for the match in a 3-0 road win for NC State.
The honor marks the third of the season for Kearney, which is the second-most in the conference just behind Miami’s Haley Templeton, who has received the honor four times this season.
For the season, Kearney leads the Wolfpack offense with 271 kills or 2.79 kills per set. She also paces the squad in blocks with 112 and points scored (350).
NC State returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 26 when the Pack hosts Wake Forest at 2 p.m. inside Reynolds Coliseum.
