RALEIGH - NC State and PNC Arena will host first and second round action of the 2016 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. The Big Dance will be played on the Wolfpack's home floor March 17 and 19, 2016.
The 2016 tournament will mark the 16th time NC State has hosted NCAA Tournament games and the third time since 2009. NC State's history hosting the Big Dance dates back to 1951 when the Wolfpack hosted and played in three tournament games at Reynolds Coliseum.
Raleigh serving as a tournament host has been a good omen for the Wolfpack in past years. In the program's championship 1974 season, NC State defeated Providence and Pittsburgh in the Eastern Regional at Reynolds to advance to the Final Four.
Other host cities for the 2016 first and second round games are: Providence, R.I., Des Moines, Iowa, Denver Colo., Brooklyn, N.Y., Oklahoma City, St. Louis, Mo., and Spokane, Wash. Chicago, Philadelphia, Anaheim and Louisville will host regionals and the 2016 Final Four will be played at Reliant Stadium in Houston.
