Volleyball Continues Road Swing at Clemson Sunday

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women’s volleyball team will head down to South Carolina on Sunday for a conference matchup against the Clemson Tigers. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. inside Jervey Gymnasium.
The Wolfpack enters the contest with a 14-11 record on the season, including a 3-10 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play. Clemson is 17-11 overall with a 5-9 mark in conference action.
Last Meeting
The Wolfpack won the last meeting between the two teams last season in Reynolds Coliseum, 3-0.
Last Time Out
In its last outing of the season, NC State dropped a 3-0 decision at No. 8 UNC-Chapel Hill, while Clemson suffered a 3-0 sweep at home against Louisville.
Firing On All Cylinders
The Wolfpack’s offensive attack seemed to be firing on all cylinders in its match against Georgia Tech as the squad registered a season-high attacking percentage of .398. It was also the second-best hitting percentage for any ACC team in a conference match this season.
In addition, the impressive percentage is also the highest total in program history for a conference match.
Leading The Pack
Freshman middle blocker Kaitlyn Kearney has been the Wolfpack's top offensive weapon this season, leading the squad with 2.71 kills per set. Dariyan Hopper, a senior outside hitter from Shorewood, Ill., is second on the team with 2.41 kills per set.
At the setter position, sophomore Maggie Speaks has dished 9.16 assists per set, which is the sixth best in the ACC.
Defensively, senior Alston Kearns paces the group with 2.95 digs per set, while sophomore Rachel Eppley is second with 2.71 dps.
Lucky Number Two
In 25 matches this season, the Wolfpack has won the second set 17 times. The squad has posted a 13-4 record when winning the second set of a match. State has scored 586 points in the second frame, which is the highest of any set for the team.
Scouting Clemson
The Clemson Tigers have compiled a 17-11 record this season, including a 10-5 mark in home matches played inside Jervey Gymnasium.The Tigers have lost four of their last five conference matches with their lone win against Syracuse.
The last time the Wolfpack played at Clemson, it earned a 3-0 win. State has won the last four meetings dating back to 2011.
Clemson is led offensively by senior Kristin Faust with 3.48 kills per set, while sophomore Leah Perri has contributed 3.03 kps. At the setter position, freshman Kate Federico has dished out 9.81assists per set. Defensively, senior Niki Collier paces the squad with 3.55 digs per set.
