RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women’s volleyball team will begin a four-match road swing when it makes the short trip over to UNC-Chapel Hill on Thursday. First serve of the contest is slated for 6 p.m. inside Carmichael Arena and will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
The Wolfpack enters the contest with a 14-10 record on the season, including a 3-9 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play. UNC is currently ranked No. 8 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll at 20-2 overall and an 11-1 record in conference action.
Last Meeting
The Tar Heels won the first meeting between the two teams this season in Reynolds Coliseum, 3-0.
Last Time Out
In its last outing of the season, NC State earned a 3-0 win at home against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. It was the seventh sweep for the Pack this season and second in ACC play.
Firing On All Cylinders
The Wolfpack’s offensive attack seemed to be firing on all cylinders in its match against Georgia Tech as the squad registered a season-high attacking percentage of .398. It was also the second-best hitting percentage for any ACC team in a conference match this season.
In addition, the impressive percentage is also the highest total in program history for a conference match.
Leading The Pack

Freshman middle blocker Kaitlyn Kearney has been the Wolfpack's top offensive weapon this season, leading the squad with 2.73 kills per set. Dariyan Hopper, a senior outside hitter from Shorewood, Ill., is second on the team with 2.45 kills per set.
At the setter position, sophomore Maggie Speaks has dished 9.19 assists per set, which is the sixth best in the ACC.
Defensively, senior Alston Kearns paces the group with 3.01 digs per set, while sophomore Rachel Eppley is second with 2.63 dps.
Lucky Number Two


In 24 matches this season, the Wolfpack has won the second set 17 times. The squad has posted a 13-4 record when winning the second set of a match. State has scored 569 points in the second frame, which is the highest of any set for the team.
Scouting UNC-Chapel Hill
The UNC-Chapel Hill Tar Heels enter Thursday’s tilt with a 20-2 record on the season and are currently on an 11-match win streak. The squad lone conference loss came on the road at No. 3 Florida State.
The Tar Heels are 10-0 in home matches played inside Carmichael Arena.
Senior Chaniel Nelson leads North Carolina offensively with 2.84 kills per set, while classmate Lauren McAdoo and junior Leigh Andrew have contributed 2.51 and 2.71 kps, respectively. Junior Jordyn Schnabl and sophomore Abigail Curry have split time at the setter position with the former handing out 6.23 assists per set and the latter 4.95. Defensively, senior Ece Taner paces the squad with 4.29 digs per set.
