2015 Competition Schedule
RALEIGH, N.C. – Head coach Mark Stevenson of the NC State gymnastics team announced the 2015 competition schedule Friday afternoon, as the squad will host five competitions inside historic Reynolds Coliseum.
“I’m very excited about the challenges that this year’s schedule brings,” Stevenson said. “We have a great home schedule that includes several top-15 ranked opponents.”
The Pack will begin the season with three of the squad’s first four meets inside the friendly confines of Reynolds Coliseum. The Pack will open the campaign with a meet against Denver on Jan. 9, before welcoming Washington on Jan. 16.
State will compete on the road for the first time in 2015 when it travels to Texas Women’s on Sunday, Jan. 25, before returning home Jan. 31 to face West Virginia and William & Mary in its first tri-meet of the campaign.
The annual Sweetheart Invitational will be held Feb. 14 and the Wolfpack will host William & Mary and George Washington. In addition, the meet will mark the second time in school history that gymnastics will compete alongside the NC State wrestling team in a Beauty & the Beast meet.
The squad’s seniors will be honored prior to a tri-meet against Kent State, UNC-Chapel Hill and Rutgers on Friday, Feb. 20.
State will close the regular-season with three challenging meets on the road. The Pack will travel to 2014 Big Ten Champion Michigan (Feb. 28), who finished seventh in the final troester.com rankings of last season. The road swing will also include visits to Washington (March 6) and Missouri (March 20).
The 2015 EAGL Championships will be held Saturday, March 21 at George Washington. The 2015 NCAA Regionals will be held April 4th, while NCAA Nationals are set for April 17-19 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Pack returns a strong nucleus from last season’s team, including the 2014 EAGL Gymnast of the Year Brittni Watkins. The squad also returns All-EAGL performer Lane Jarred, as well as Michaela Woodford.
