RALEIGH, N.C. – As of the most recent NCAA RPI rankings on September 23, the NC State women’s soccer team has seen a significant boost from the end of last season to midway through the 2013 campaign.
The Wolfpack ended the 2012 season with an RPI mark of 188. NC State (6-4-0, 1-3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) has improved its ranking tremendously since then, leaping 141 spots to currently sit at 47th (of 327 teams) following the first 10 matches of the 2013 season.
Part of this RPI success can be attributed to solid performances against other teams sitting well in the rankings. On Sunday, NC State was narrowly edged by No. 3 Florida State, a program which is currently first in the Sept. 23 RPI rankings. The Wolfpack also played close matches against Georgetown (5th in RPI) and Notre Dame (8th in RPI) this season.
NC State returns to action at home this week against No. 16 Virginia Tech (Sept. 26) and Boston College (Sept. 29). Both matches will be played Dail Soccer Field.
