NC State's Alex Martinez earned a spot on the College Soccer News preseason All-America second team, announced Tuesday by the web site.
Martinez led the ACC in assists, finished second in points, and third in goals during the 2012 season, his first at NC State after transferring from High Point.
The rising senior finished with 32 points on 11 goals and 10 assists to become the first Wolfpack soccer player since Henry Gutierrez in 1991 to notch double-digit goals and assists in a single season.
Martinez helped lead the Pack to a 6-0 start in 2012, the program's best since 1982. During that run, the Wolfpack climbed as high as No. 14 in the national rankings.
NC State soccer opens its 2013 season on Aug. 17 with an exhibition at High Point. The Pack travels to Campbell on Aug. 30 to begin the regular season.
