Many college students plan mission trips all over the planet, but this summer, Jessica Baity of the NC State women's soccer team chose to assist others in her own back yard. Baity's mission field included Yadkin County, located in the Piedmont region of central North Carolina.

Now in its third year, Impact Yadkin is a week-long mission project serving the community and people of Yadkin County. This year, over 800 students and adults completed 75 mission projects that included roofing, siding, painting, building ramps and porches and replacing cabinets and flooring.
"This trip was an opportunity to give back to my home community," said Baity, who grew up in Yadkinville.
"It allowed me to serve others the way Christ has served us. Impact Yadkin gave me the chance to help improve someone else's life through physical labor."
Forbush High School, Baity's alma mater, was the hub of the Impact Yadkin effort. The gym was fitted with a stage and used primarily as an auditorium where meetings and worship services were held. Volunteers were able to stay overnight in the middle and high school buildings.
Each person involved made a $200 donation to join. The money was collected and used to purchase the building materials for the 75 job sites.
