RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State track & field team will host the 2013 Raleigh Relays this Friday and Saturday, March 29-30, at the Paul H. Derr Track. Admission is free for all spectators.
The Wolfpack's annual meet features track & field athletes from 87 NCAA schools, as well as a contingent of prominent club and professional teams. Approximately 50 NC State athletes will compete in events over the course of both days, while also sending several relay teams to the track.
State's throwers had an excellent showing at the UCF Invitational last Saturday, where redshirt junior Nathaniel Williams won the men's discus with a 180' 2.00" heave.
Redshirt sophomore Tremanisha Taylor picked up her fifth-straight shot put title with a 50' 9.25" toss, while taking second in the women's discus after recording a 167' 1.00" measurement. Taylor has taken first in the shot put at each event dating back to her Feb. 16 victory at UNC’s Kent Taylor Invitational during the indoor season.
At last weekend's outdoor version of the Kent Taylor Invitational at the University of North Carolina, freshman Alexis Perry won her first collegiate crown in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.35. Senior Paige Eley also took first place in the women's 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.34 seconds.
Free parking will be available in the Reynolds parking deck adjacent to the Derr Track.
