RALEIGH, N.C. – With the start of the 2014 season drawing near, the NC State gymnastics team made time to give back to the community throughout the week of Thanksgiving.
As part of the Spare Some for Autism initiative, the squad helped children with Autism with craft projects as they waited to sit on Santa’s lap as part of an exclusive event at Crabtree Valley Mall.
The team also enjoyed the opportunity to serve a Thanksgiving meal to a family in need in the Raleigh area and wrote letters to American troops wishing them happy holidays.
Spare Some for Autism was founded in Raleigh by Beth Jarvis, a local CEO and mother of an autistic daughter. The nonprofit organization's mission is to improve the quality of life for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. For more information, visitwww.sparesomeforautism.org.
State will open its 2014 campaign at UNC on Jan. 12 at 2 p.m., inside Carmichael Arena.
