Syracuse, N.Y. - An injury-depleted NC State squad came up short in a road match on Friday night at Syracuse, falling 5-0.
The Wolfpack (4-3-2, 1-3-1 ACC) lacked the talents of leading scorer Nick Surkamp, team captain and senior midfielder Nazmi Albadawi, and senior defender Gbenga Makinde. All three were lost due to injury during the week.
"Yesterday was probably the most difficult travel day I've ever experienced with a team, but in the end it's still no excuse," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley.
"We're a better team than what we showed tonight and we need to work harder. We've had some key injuries, but we're getting back to a full group, and we need to grow and become a better team as the year goes on."
NC State returns to action on Tuesday, October 8 as the Pack hosts Wake Forest at Dail Soccer Stadium beginning at 7 p.m. The match will stream live on ESPN3. Fans can also follow along with live stats on GoPack.com, or on Twitter by following @PackMensSoccer.
