RALEIGH, N.C. - Juniors Len'Nique Brown and Krystal Barrett of the NC State women's basketball team were recognized Monday by the league office as 2012-13 Atlantic Coast Conference Sportsmanship Award winners.
These two Wolfpack student-athletes were the only specific individuals highlighted by the league office for character, as the ACC also honored the entire Virginia Tech women's volleyball team and the Florida State and Boston College men's swimming teams.
Brown and Barrett were specifically singled out for their habit of shaking the opposing coach's hand upon fouling out of a game.
Both Brown and Barrett appeared in all 34 games of the 2012-13 season. Brown scored 7.2 points and dished out a team-high 3.8 assists per game while Barrett averaged 6.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest.
To be considered, nominees must have demonstrated consistently good sportsmanship and ethical behavior in their daily participation in intercollegiate athletics. Nominees are submitted by Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAACs) and their advisors at ACC schools.
