RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's soccer team returns to action Sunday afternoon, hosting ACC newcomer Syracuse at noon. Sunday's match will be played at Dail Soccer Field and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports South and ESPN3.
LOGGING THE MINUTES
Freshman forward Rachel Cox has seen an increase in her playing time over the course of the Wolfpack's last three matches. The native of Greensboro played 37 minutes at No. 4 North Carolina on Oct. 10, 21 minutes against Clemson on Oct. 13, and a career-high mark of 60 minutes on Oct. 17 vs. top-ranked Virginia.
INCREASING THE PRESSURE
Over the past two matches, NC State has combined to record 22 total shots for an average of 11 per game. The Pack tied a season high with 15 against Clemson on Oct. 13 and registered seven against No. 1 Virginia on Oct. 17.
PACK DELIVERED TO YOU
NC State matches have been broadcast on television and through online streaming an unprecedented number of times in 2013. Sunday's match against Syracuse will mark the eighth time that a Pack match has been broadcast to a national audi­ence in 2013. This will break the prior mark of seven televised contests set in 2012.
QUALITY OPPOSITION
NC State's losses in 2013 have come against very difficult opposition. The teams which have defeated the Wolfpack this season have combined to accumulate a 104-32-12 record. Two of these teams are still undefeated (No. 3 Florida State and No. 1 Virginia).
MAKING THEM COUNT
When NC State lines up a shot, chances are it is going to be on target. Exactly 50 percent of the Wolfpack's shots have resulted in goals or saves this season, compared to just 41.5 percent for its opponents.
STEADY SOLDAT
Heading into Sunday's match against Syracuse, senior defend­er Randi Soldat has appeared in 68 matches, the most of any active Wolfpack student-athlete. Soldat, an electrical engi­neering major, has played in 1,379 of a possible 1,440 minutes in 2013. No player has spent more time on the field this season.
SHARING THE BALL
Five NC State student-athletes have recorded two or more assists in 2013. Shelli Spamer and Meagan Proper are tied for the team lead with five apiece while Brittany Stanko (2), Jessica Baity (2), and Jennie Krauser (2) have also had a knack for setting up teammates to score.
SHOOTING RANGE
Dail Soccer Field was the site of two very offensive-minded teams on Oct. 13, as NC State and Clemson combined for 34 total shots. The Wolfpack's tally of 15 shots tied a season-high mark set in a Sept. 8 win over UNCW.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
-Syracuse enters Sunday's match the owner of a 6-9-1 record which includes a 2-7-1 mark in league play
-The Orange has gone 2-2 in its last four matches, defeating Pittsburgh and Miami while falling to Florida State and UNC
-Stephanie Skilton leads the team offensively with eight goals while Erin Simon has proved to be quite versatile, scoring five goals and dishing out four assists
-Brittany Anghel is the only student-athlete to play in the net for the Orange. She has posted a .762 save percentage and a 1.17 goals-against average
