Watkins Named EAGL Rookie of the Week

DURHAM, N.H. - NC State freshman gymnast Brittni Watkins has been named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

The Saratoga Springs, N.Y., native had a great meet against the New Hampshire Wildcats, posting a career-best 9.9 on floor exercise. The score was just the second 9.9 of the season by a Wolfpack gymnast and the first on floor exercise. 

Watkins won the event with her score, marking the first time she has finished atop the podium on the season. The Pack freshman also competed on vault, recording a score of 9.8, tying for second along with teammate Stephanie Ouellette. 

NC State will return to action on Friday, Jan. 25, when it hosts West Virginia at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Coliseum.
