NC State men's soccer opens its season Friday night on the road against Liberty at 7 p.m., and hosts its home opener Sunday against Mercer at 4 p.m. at Dail Soccer Field.
"We've had this weekend circled on our calendars for a long time," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "We have a great mentality, the guys are playing well, and we're enjoying ourselves, but the opportunity to get on the field and start the season adds a lot of motivation."
The Wolfpack looked impressive in its lone exhibition of the year, knocking off UNC Wilmington 3-1 on the road.
Nazmi Albadawi provided a pair of assists in the contest, while Alex Martinez, Monbo Bokar, Robert Beatty each scored once to secure the win. Fabian Otte shut out the Seahawks for 45 minutes in goal, stopping two shots.
"We were able to watch some partnerships develop in our exhibition," said Findley. "More importantly, we improved during the match. We were able to impose ourselves on our opponent, and that's the goal every time out."
