NC State travels to UNC Wilmington for an exhibition on Saturday, August 18 at 7 p.m. in a final tune-up before the 2012 season begins August 24 at Liberty.
The Pack enters head coach Kelly Findley's second season with high expectations after reaching the ACC Tournament quarterfinals in 2011.
“We’re excited for Saturday, and I know the team appreciates the chance to finally go play someone else,” said Findley. “We’re facing a very organized, well-coached, disciplined UNC Wilmington team, but our goal will be to impose our style. That’s what I’ll be watching for from our players.”
State returns leading scorer Nazmi Albadawi, who found the back of the net nine times last season. Goalkeeper Fabian Otte returns as well after starting 19 of 20 games for the Wolfpack in 2011.
“Playing on the road was difficult for us last year,” said Findley. “Our schedule reflects the fact that we’re expecting to play to our standards no matter where we are. If our concentration levels continue to improve, and we outwork our opponent, we’ll overcome that difficulty from a year ago.”
