GREENSBORO, N.C. – Recent NC State graduates Mark McMillen and Chad Day were named to the 2012 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Golf Academic Team on Monday.
McMillen, from Smithfield, N.C., earns his third-straight selection on the academic team, while Day, a Raleigh, native is honored for the second-consecutive school year.
McMillen ranked fourth on the State team this past year with a collegiate-best scoring average of 73.9. He won the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in the fall with a score of 2-under 214. He also notched a second top-10 of the season by tying for seventh at the Wolfpack Spring Open.
Day's last year in college also turned out to be his best as he recorded a career-low scoring average of 73.8, ranking third on the team. He was State's second-best competitor at both the ACC and NCAA Regional Championships, finishing T21 and T41, respectively.
Both student-athletes studied finance/business administration at NC State.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
