DURHAM, N.C. - Redshirt freshman Nathaniel Williams won the men's discus and teammate Grant Pearce was second at the Duke Twilight Meet on Sunday, as the NC State men's and women' outdoor track and field teams competed in their next-to-last event of the regular season.

Sophomore Halsey Merritt also won the mixed 10,000-meter run in the late-evening meet at Duke's Wallace Wade Stadium in a time of 36:08.71. Merritt finished more than a minute ahead of her closest competitor.

The Wolfpack women also took second, third and fourth in the women's discus throw, led by senior Brittany Hampton with a throw of 165-feet, 10-inches. Freshman SeQuoia Watkins, competing as an unattached participant, was third, followed by redshirt freshman Tremanisha Taylor.

Taylor was also third in the women's shot put.

State will host the Wolfpack Last Chance Qualifier on Sunday at Derr Track. The following weekend, the men's and women's teams will send participants to the NCAA Regional Preliminary meet in Jacksonville, Fla.
