Marchand and James Capture NGCA Awards

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Brittany Marchand earned an honorable mention to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American team, and Augusta James made the All-Region team for her performance at the NCAA Central Regional, announced Friday by the NGCA.
Marchand's honor is a first for NC State women's golf, which concluded its first appearance at an NCAA Championship on Friday in Franklin, Tenn.
James adds her All-Region mention to an illustrious freshman resume that included being named the ACC Freshman of the Year and making the all-conference team, the first time a Wolfpacker has taken the award.
Marchand also made the All-ACC team, and set the NC State record for wins in a season in 2011-12. The sophomore became the Pack’s all-time winningest golfer by notching her third career win in 2012.
The National Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The NGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the NGCA represents nearly 500 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
