Raleigh, N.C. -
The NC State men's and women's soccer programs will be celebrating the grand opening of the school's new soccer practice facility, the Wolfpack Training Complex, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, April 27.
The evening will start at 5:30 p.m. with NC State Director of Athletics Debbie Yow addressing the crowd. Then the ribbon-cutting will take place, followed by a ceremonial first-kick. Guests will then be invited to take a tour of the facility, followed by a one-hour youth clinic hosted by both the men's and women's soccer teams.
The practice facility for both the men's and women's soccer teams features a grass field, a turf field, lights, 50-foot netting behind each goal and a sound system. The complex is located just across the street from both the Dail Soccer Stadium and the team's locker rooms and sports medicine facility.
The natural grass field is a replica of the Pack's gameday field, the Dail Soccer Field. It is 120x75 yards, a USGA sandbased field with hybrid Bermuda grass, and a tile drainage system.
The synthetic surface is 100x68 yards FIFA certified infill system that is the first synthetic field on NC State's campus. A third area is extra turf space which features penalty box dimensions which can be used for set pieces and shooting on goal.
There is also a 25,000 sq ft warm up/training area off that field as you enter the complex for the teams.
On Saturday, April 28, NC State Soccer/SAAC will be hosting a Grassroot Soccer 3v3 tournament at The Wolfpack Training Complex. All funds raised benefit Grassroot Soccer (GRS), an international nonprofit that uses the power of soccer to save lives by preventing the spread of HIV among those with the most new infections--youth in Africa.
