Men's Tennis Falls 5-2 at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. - N.C. State's No. 33 men's tennis team, in its fourth of five consecutive road matches, fell to No. 63 Virginia Tech on Friday afternoon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
The Hokies opened the meet by winning two of the three doubles matches. The No. 2 combo of freshman Robbie Mudge and senior Jaime Pulgar won the Wolfpack's match with an 8-6 victory over Patrick Daciek and Lucas Oliveira.
Pulgar, a two-time All-ACC selection who was ranked No. 35 nationally, fell in the No. 1 singles match to No. 119 Luka Somen of Virginia Tech. Oliveira, ranked No. 123 in singles play, topped Mudge at No. 2 singles.
Senior Dominic Hodgson and freshman Austin Powell picked up the Wolfpack's two victories, at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
The Wolfpack (15-6 overall, 1-4 ACC) concludes its road swing on Sunday, when it travels to Charlottesville, Va., to face No. 4 Virginia in a 1 p.m. contest. The Wolfpack will play four of its final ACC matches of the regular season at its J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
