Stevenson Named EAGL Coach of the Year

PITTSBURGH, Pa.-- NC State head gymnastics coach Mark Stevenson has been named the 2011-12 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Coach of the Year, announced at the EAGL Awards Banquet on Friday.
Coach Stevenson has the NC State Wolfpack ranked first overall in the EAGL Conference, including first place rankings on vault, uneven parallel bars, and beam. The Pack ranks third on floor exercise behind Maryland and West Virginia.
Now in his 32nd season with the Wolfpack, Coach Stevenson has collected over 400 victories at NC State including 24 NCAA Regional Appearances and four EAGL Championships. Stevenson now has his fifth EAGL Coach of the Year award with this year's selection.
"The award really and truly is a reflection of our gymnasts and how good they've been this season," said NC State head coach Mark Stevenson. "Without all of their hard work, it would not have been possible for me to receive this award."
The All EAGL teams were also announced at the awards banquet on Friday. Brooke Barr, Rachel Fincham, Diahanna Ham, Lane Jarred, Stephanie Ouellette, and Jess Panza were all named to the All EAGL First Team.
Sophomore Stephanie Ouellette received first team All EAGL honors on bars, floor, and all around, while senior Brooke Barr claimed first team All EAGL honors on vault and floor. Senior Jess Panza received first team honors on beam and junior Rachel Fincham received first team honors on bars. Rounding out the All EAGL first team was sophomore Diahanna Ham on vault and freshman Lane Jarred on beam.
Those named to the All EAGL second team were Hannah Fallanca, Rachel Fincham, Diahanna Ham, Kristen Harabedian, Stephanie Ouellette, Jess Panza, and Alex Williams.
Hannah Fallanca, sophomore gymnast, took second team honors on vault and beam. On bars, Kristen Harabedian and Alex Williams received the honor, while Rachel Fincham and Stephanie Ouellette joined Fallanca on the second team for beam. Senior Jess Panza and sophomore Diahanna Ham claimed second team honors on floor.
No. 20 NC State will take part in the 2012 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championships on Saturday, March 24 in Pittsburgh, Pa. at 2 p.m. in Fitzgerald Field House on the University of Pittsburgh campus.
