Henry Blasts Hammer Throw

ORLANDO -- NC State senior thrower Lawanda Henry had her best performance in more than two years in the women’s hammer throw with a toss of 182-feet, 8-inches to finish third in the event at the UCF Invitational.
Henry owns the school record of 188-feet, 3-inches in the event, which she set as a freshman in 2009. Henry also owns the school record in the indoor weight throw and both the indoor and outdoor shot put.
For the Wolfpack men, sophomore Nathaniel Williams posted a career-best mark of 175-feet in the hammer throw to finish fifth, while junior teammate Grant Pearce was sixth with a distance of 163-feet, 6-inches.
The Wolfpack throwers will continue the two-day competition on Saturday, while select other State athletes will compete in the fourth-annual HPU VertKlasse Meeting in High Point, N.C.
