NC State's Alex Martinez captured a spot on the NSCAA's All-South Region first team, announced Sunday.
Martinez becomes the first Wolfpacker to land on the All-Region team since Ronnie Bouemboue and Alan Sanchez made the list in 2009.
The Rock Hill, S.C. native made an instant impact over his first year with Pack, helping the State climb as high as No. 14 in the national rankings during the squad's best start since 1982. Martinez spent the season ranked among the ACC's leaders in goals, assists, and points. He finished the season with 32 points on 11 goals and 10 assists.
The last time an NC State soccer player recorded double-digit goals and assists in a single season came with Henry Gutierrez's 10 goal, 13 assist effort in 1991.
Martinez represents the Wolfpack's first double-digit goal scorer since Ronnie Bouemboue's 14 goals in 2008, and notches the first double-digit assist total since Bouemboue's 10 in 2009. Martinez's 32 points equal a mark set by Bouemboue in 2008.
