RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's soccer team has been honored as one of only six Division I programs to earn the NSCAA Team Ethics/Sportsmanship Award for 2011.
The Wolfpack is also included among one of only 82 squads in the country to receive this award among all levels of collegiate competition.
Head coach Steve Springthorpe's club earned the bronze status from the NSCAA because of receiving zero red cards, and less than 10 yellow cards in 20 contests last fall. State was booked for only seven yellow's all season.
State also earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award as well for a team grade point average above 3.0 during the 2010-11 academic year.
The Ethics/Sportsmanship awards list has just been posted at the NSCAA website and can be found by clicking here.
