RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men’s indoor track and field team, which opens its 2012 spring scheduled this weekend at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va., is ranked No. 24 in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) preseason poll of Division I teams.
The Wolfpack had two indoor All-America performers last year, sprinter T.J. Graham in the 60-meter dash and distance runner Ryan Hill in the 3,000-meter run.
Hill won two titles at the ACC Indoor Championships last year, as a part of the distance medley relay team and in the 3,000-meter run. Hill also set the school record of 7:50.78 in the 3K at the Husky Invitational in Seattle.
Graham, who just completed his career with the NC State football team, was a two-time All-ACC performer after runner-up finishes in the 60 meters and the 200 meters at the ACC meet.
The Wolfpack also returns three-time All-ACC performer Kris Kornegay-Gober of Washington, D.C., who was third in the high jump at last year’s conference meet, and two-time All-ACC performer Andrew Colley, who had runner-up performances in both the 3,000 meters and the 5,000 meters last year.
The NC State women also begin their season on Friday in Blacksburg. The Pack returns All-ACC indoor thrower Lawanda Henry and two outdoor All-Americans in Kenyetta Iyevbele (800 meters) and Andie Cozzarelli (10,000 meters).
