Golf World/NGCA Coaches' Poll | Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings
RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's golf ranked 23rd in the Golf World/NGCA Division I women's coaches' poll released Wednesday.
"[The national ranking] is the culmination of a lot of hard work and it's really exciting," said NC State head coach Page Marsh. "It validates the effort we've made to upgrade the program and the facilities. Without the support of the university and our administration, we wouldn't have been able to attract the golfers that we have now."
The Wolfpack appears in the Golf World rankings for the first time since the poll's revival in 2001-02.
NC State also ranked 29th in the initial Golfweek poll released Tuesday, September 27.
In the midst of the best start in program history, 30-3-1 through two events, the Pack enjoyed a victory at the Cardinal Cup last week and a fourth place finish at the Cougar Classic two weeks ago.
In the season-opening event, NC State set school records for lowest three-day total and lowest team round, with all three scores equal to or better than the previous record.
Next up for Wolfpack women's golf will be a trip to Chapel Hill for the Tar Heel Invitational beginning October 7, as the Pack attempts to defend its newfound place in the national spotlight.
