Wolfpack Holds Steady in Fourth Heading to Final Round

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Freshman Vivian Tsui backed up an impressive debut with her second-straight under-par round to pull into the top-10, leading NC State women's golf to a fourth place standing after the second round of the Cougar Classic Monday.
Tsui bogeyed the par-3 third, but rebounded with three birdies over the final 10 holes at the par-72, 6,205 yard Yeamans Hall Club to shoot 71 (-2). The freshman has a chance to open her collegiate career with a top-10 if she can hold her ground over Tuesday's final round.
The Wolfpack enjoys a four shot lead over four nationally-ranked opponents in a tie for fifth (#3 Alabama, #10 Tennessee, #17 Vanderbilt, and #19 Georgia), an eight shot lead over #8 Duke, and a 30 shot lead over #14 Wake Forest.
Sophomore Ana Menendez, who led the Pack on day one, sits second among NC State golfers after firing a 74 (+2) to fall into a tie for 20th.
Junior Amanda Baker sits one shot back of Menendez at the 36-hole mark after an even-par 72 to stand alone in 27th.
Freshman Augusta James rounded out the scoring on NC State's second round 290 (+2) with her 74 to remain within striking distance of a top-25 at 32nd overall.
Tuesday's final round features a shotgun start at 9 a.m. NC State will be paired with golfers from the top-three teams, #12 North Carolina, #18 Florida, and #5 LSU. Live stats for tomorrow's round are available at Golfstat.com.
