GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State freshman outside hitter Nicole Glass was named this week's winner of the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Week award for her performance in the Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire Tournament, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Miami outside hitter Lane Carico was also named ACC player of the week. It's the second straight honor for Carico, who has led Miami to a perfect 9-0 record to start the season.
Glass has been a huge asset during the Wolfpack's nine-game winning streak, which matches the longest for the program since 1987. The Wolfpack success continued last weekend, when it won matches over Charleston Southern, East Carolina, and UNC Wilmington to win the Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire Tournament hosted by UNC Wilmington.
Under second-year head coach Bryan Bunn, the Wolfpack has posted a 9-1 record on the season.
Glass, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., tallied 39 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, reaching double-digits in all three matches. She added five service aces, 21 digs and 10 total blocks.
Glass becomes the first ever ACC Freshman of the Week from NC State.
NC State returns to action this weekend, when it hosts Liberty, the Citadel and Towson in the Courtyard Midtown Invitational in Raleigh, N.C., on Friday and Saturday.
