RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State will host the very first men's and women's soccer doubleheader at Dail Soccer Field on Friday night beginning with the men hosting St. Francis (Pa.) at 5:30 p.m. The women will immediately follow against Old Dominion at 8 p.m.
The athletic department is selling acual game day jerseys from both the men's and women's programs. Cost is $30 per jersey with a limit of 10 per customer. Jerseys will be sold during both games on Friday and Monday night.
After 25 years at the helm of the NC State men’s soccer program, George Tarantini retired after the 2010 season. NC State athletic director Debbie Yow went out and got one of the top coaches in the nation, Kelly Findley.
Findley joins the Pack after a successful five year run at Butler, where he led the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament each of the last two seasons and was named Horizon League Coach of the Year those seasons as well. He went 59-25-15 during his time at Butler, including 43-7-7 over the last three years and finished the 2010 regular season ranked No. 5 nationally with an undefeated mark.
Last season, NC State brought in the 19th-rated recruiting class according to collegesoccernews.com, and this year Findley and his staff topped that mark. The Pack’s 13 member recruiting class is ranked No. 12 nationally.
For the second straight season, the Wolfpack will have newcomers competing for the starting job in goal. NC State’s three goalies on the 2011 roster (senior Vasilios Dimopoulos, sophomore Fabian Otte, and freshman Joe Mills) have never seen game action with the Pack.

The Wolfpack is off to a 2-0 start after a pair of 1-0 victories last weekend. The season began Friday with Tanya Cain scoring the game's decider just over 26 minutes into the game off two beautiful assists from Meagan Proper and Julia Sandridge.
Senior goalkeeper Kim Kern made nine saves between the two matches to notch her 11th and 12th career clean sheets, tying her for fifth in the school record book.
On Sunday, senior Alex Berger scored on a penalty kick in the 88th minute to down Navy.
The Wolfpack recorded back-to-back shutout wins to begin a season for the third time in the last four seasons, and the second time under the leadership of third-year head coach Steve Springthorpe.
Doubleheader action continues on Monday when the women welcome LSU at 5:30 p.m., while the men host VMI at 8 p.m. Both games will be available to watch free on GoPack.com.
