Women's Golf Summer Update

RALEIGH, N.C. -
Rising sophomore Brittany Marchand of the NC State women's golf team will compete in the 2011 U.S. Women's Open July 7-10, at The Broadmoor East Course in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Marchand will be in the first group teeing off #10 at 7:00 a.m., along with Anna Grzebien and Ashley Prange.

Marchand recently finished fifth in the final CN Canadian Women’s Tour event of the year, at the Blue Springs Golf Club in Acton, Ontario. She finished with a 4-over 148 (73-75), and was the second-highest amateur finisher just three strokes back.

Incoming freshman Augusta James and graduated senior Brooke Baker both competed in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon. Both James and Baker advanced to the Round of 64 match play portion after two rounds of stroke play. Baker fell 3&2 in match play, while James fell 8&6.

Rising junior Amanda Baker finished second at the British Columbia Women’s Amateur Championship at the Alberni Golf Club in Alberni, B.C. Baker was just one shot out of medalist honors, as she finished at 7-over 291 (74-71-73-73).

Incoming freshman Lindsay McGetrick finished fourth at the 2011 Colorado Women’s Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at Cherry Creek Country Club in Denver, Colorado. She finished at 11-over 227 (81-71-75), including a 10-shot improvement in the second round.
